Job Description

This position is on the Global Strategic Sourcing Services (GSSS) team within McDonald’s Global Supply Chain organization. GSSS is a progressive team that contributes directly to the bottom-line performance of the company, consulting with leaders throughout the organization to support initiatives that are driving McDonald’s into the future.

The Marketing Sourcing team works to maximize McDonald's marketing investment via best-in-class marketing sourcing across Creative, Media, Merchandising, PR/Communications, Events/Activations, Family, CRM/Digital, Sponsorships/Alliances, and Production sub-categories. Category leads within this group are expected to partner with the Global Marketing corporate-level business function, Regional Marketing, US Marketing, and other stakeholders from across our international markets.

The Marketing Sourcing Manager reports to the Director of Global Marketing Sourcing and will work closely with other team members and stakeholders at McDonald’s HQ and in markets throughout the world.

Responsibilities:

Lead, champion, and evolve Marketing Sourcing best practices including but not limited to agency selection & contracting, scoping, ongoing Agency Relationship Management, 3rd party audits, efficiency and innovations, and other practices designed to maximize our Marketing investments
Leverage curiosity and resources to develop new stakeholder relationships, understand needs and establish strategies to problem solve
Develop category strategies and execution plans, ensuring stakeholder buy-in
Reconcile business objectives and priorities with category objectives and priorities
Advise stakeholders on and/or negotiate commercial and operational terms, develop negotiation plans to ensure terms are achieved
Develop and foster strategic and operational relationships at Officer Level and below to advance cross functional business priority alignment, GSSS vision and overall value offering
Develop and monitor the pipeline of open initiatives across business areas (planned and unplanned) to forecast and manage sourcing operations resources and benefits
Keep abreast of industry news and critical developments within the category space, highlighting innovation opportunities and competitor insights – maintain active involvement in local & national industry networks
Effectively manage direct reports, committed to developing & empowering the team to excel in their roles and achieve their career objectives

Qualifications

Educational/Experience Requirements:

4-year accredited degree required, Bachelors’ Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Marketing preferred, MBA a plus.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic sourcing or commensurate experience in related functions. Marketing strategic sourcing and/or marketing background preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to solve ambiguous problems, passion for driving plans independently and willingness to shift approach based on stakeholder needs and flex to support the team.
Ability to foster meaningful stakeholder relationships and influence both internally and externally to provide McDonald’s with the highest value services
Demonstrate big-picture thinking and ability to identify opportunities to streamline & scale solutions. Develop pipeline of opportunities for what we should be doing rather than reacting solely to demand for support.
Leverage internal and external network/sources to share best practices and solve problems
Solid understanding of sourcing best practices, including supplier negotiations, selection, evaluation, management, and development. Knowledge of Marketing strategic sourcing methodologies, including agency selection, scoping, negotiations, evaluation, & management preferred.
Strong analytical acumen with ability to synthesize complex information and articulate in a concise manner, translating into business recommendations, with a high level of completeness and accuracy. Highly proficient in Excel.
Proficient communication skills: ability to create, adjust and present both written and verbal communications to varying audiences in a confident, clear and concise manner
Ability to focus attention on what matters most, reprioritizing often to support dynamic business needs
